Ancient Egyptian religion focuses largely on nature, beginning with the worship of animals. As you may have already known, or even seen, animals played an important roll in Egyptian mythology. Animals were believed to represent the gods, who were imagined my individual tribes in Egypt. Gradually, these sacred gods began to take human form with more distinct characteristics, but most continued to have the head of an animal.
